Our founding stories

One Vision. Three Paths That Came Together.

Ability Inclusion Alliance was born from a shared commitment to advancing inclusion, empowerment, and well-being for persons with special needs. What began as a focused mission soon grew into a collaborative movement, guided by three remarkable individuals whose expertise and dedication converged around a common purpose

Annab Mohamed — Founder & Chairlady

The chairperson’s story began with love—for her family, for her community, and for humanity itself. After years of working in humanitarian roles with the UN across different countries, she stepped away from her career to provide care for a loved one.

She gained a profound understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with diverse abilities. Guided by insights from experts like Dr. John Onala in early childhood assessment and inclusive education, she recognized the importance of creating environments where all individuals can thrive.

This realization inspired the founding of Ability Inclusion Alliance—a community-based organization committed to advocating for inclusive practices and supporting children and families. Today, she leads with passion, empathy, and an unwavering vision to make inclusion a lived reality for everyone

Dr. John Onala — Treasurer & Advisor
Dr. John Onala is an experienced educational psychologist and inclusion specialist. He provides expert guidance to ensure the organization’s programs are evidence-based, effective, and responsive to the diverse needs of the communities it serves

Maryanne Chepkorir Rop — Executive Secretary
Maryanne Chepkorir Rop is a counseling psychologist, mental health mentor, and community advocate advancing well-being, resilience, and inclusion for children, youth, and families. She provides operational leadership at Ability Inclusion Alliance, guiding programs, safeguarding initiatives, and community engagement..

What began as a commitment to mental health and inclusion became a shared mission — to uplift, protect, and empower every child and family

Together, these three formed Ability Inclusion Alliance — a community-based organization rooted in lived experience, professional excellence, and an unshakable belief in every child’s potential.
